The BCATA offers its members an extensive range of services. Membership is open to anyone interested in the therapeutic use of art who wishes to support and foster the purposes and objectives of the association. There are several types of memberships.

Registered Professional (BCATR) for professional members who have met the requirements set out in the current by-laws and who have made application and been accepted by the membership committee. Applications for Registration packages and Registration standards are available from Jane Kane, Registration Chair. Submission deadlines are April 30, August 31 and December 31.
Professional for individuals who have completed training in art therapy from a graduate training program and who are or have been engaged in the therapeutic use of art. Those seeking membership in this category must formally submit credentials to the membership committee.
Student for those enrolled in an art therapy program. Please submit student ID.
Associate Student for students of other disciplines who are interested in the therapeutic use of art. Please submit student ID.
Honorary Life Membership may be awarded from time to time in recognition of outstanding service to the society.
Retired Membership available to previously registered members.

Members in all categories may attend annual general meetings and are entitled to reduced rates at BCATA conferences and receive Art Therapist, the BCATA newsletter. The right to vote and hold office is reserved for Registered Professional members and Professional members, who also receive all official publications of the association.
